Pierogi Sale: Orders and money due Aug. 25 by 9 p.m. to Cressona American Legion, 1 Front St. Pickup is Sept. 2 from 2-7 p.m. Pierogies are from Raczka Pierogies, Minersville. Cost is $5/dozen, precooked, heat and eat and can be frozen. Three flavors: potato and cheddar, potato and jalapeno and potato and sauerkraut. Firemen’s Convention: Sponsored by Good Will Hose Company in Cressona and Liberty Fire Company No. 4 in Schuylkill Haven, the event is scheduled for Aug. 20-26. It is co-chaired by Michael Pontician, Good Will’s chief, and Leroy Boyer, Liberty’s treasurer. The convention will include a memorial service, a special high-stakes bingo, a delegates night, a mug night and a parade on Aug. 26 in Schuylkill Haven and Cressona. The judges stand will be in front of Good Will Hose Company on Sillyman Street.
